Stocks vs. Options... Which Trader Are You 🤔
Good morning,
One of the questions I get asked more than almost anything else is this:
"Should I be trading penny stocks or options?"
The truth is... there isn't a right or wrong answer.
Both can be powerful tools when they're used correctly, and each has its own advantages depending on your experience, trading style, and goals.
Stocks are great because they're simple to understand. You buy shares of a company, you own part of that business, and there's no expiration date forcing you to make a decision. Many traders appreciate stocks because they can build long-term positions, collect dividends on certain companies, and generally don't have to deal with the fast-moving nature of options.
Options, on the other hand, offer flexibility that stocks simply can't match. With options, traders can potentially control more shares with less capital, trade both bullish and bearish market moves, and often generate meaningful percentage returns from relatively small price moves in the underlying stock. They're also an incredible tool for managing risk when used properly.
That's why I spend so much time teaching both.
Some traders love the slower pace and simplicity of buying great stocks.
Others enjoy the leverage, flexibility, and shorter-term opportunities that options can provide.
Neither approach is "better" than the other. The best choice depends on your personality, your risk tolerance, and the amount of time you have available to trade.
