Today is THE day, it’s quad witching which could bring massive moves in the markets and stocks. Ok, here are 4 possible situations for today.

  1. Range-Bound Early, More Volatile in Afternoon / Close
    Because of quad witching, many traders will wait to make final adjustments until later in the day. So prices may drift or trade in a relatively quiet range in the morning, then see wider swings later.

  2. Support/Resistance near Key Strikes / Open Interest Levels
    There may be pinning or anchoring around strikes with lots of open interest. If SPY is near a popular strike (let’s say ~$660-$665 or near round numbers), that could act as resistance/support depending on how traders adjust.

  3. Reaction to Any New Data / Speeches
    If any economic releases, Fed comments or unexpected corporate news come out, SPY could move sharply. Given the elevated IV, traders will be sensitive to surprises.

  4. Possible Downside Skew / Pullback Bias
    Though there’s optimism from the rate cut, there's cautiousness in the commentary — some concern that the Fed is being cautious about inflation and doesn’t want to overshoot. Also, September tends historically to be weaker / more volatile.
